Before surrendering to the Japanese forces, Filipino and American soldiers temporarily took refuge in the mountains of Bataan for three months. It was not an easy fight. They were brutally tortured and starved through the Death March.
The soldiers bravery is what we remember at the Dambana ng Kagitingan. It is a symbol of our fallen heroes who battled freedom during World War II.
Dambana ng Kagitingan in Pilar, Bataan is a 30-storey cross atop Mount Samat. After reaching the foot of the cross, you’ll need to take the small elevator and see the birds-eye view of the area. From there, you can enjoy the overlooking and breathtaking scenery of Bataan.
